Monthly 121 date with each child, Alyssa

Quick lunch as she requested for starbucks

Satisfied her craving and having our 121 chat

1 of my goals for 2022 is to have monthly 121 date with each child.  As my children moving to teens stage, it is important to provide and support them with their needs as their developed.  They do not need much of physical needs but mental and emotional needs at this stage.  Therefore quality time with them to hear them out their challenges and aspiration is 1 of the ways to see them grow healthily.

Today 1 of the interesting topics i had with Alyssa who is turning 14 years old in March 2023, was, she asked me this, "Why aint we allow to take milk?  My friends just find me weird that we aint allow to drink milk."

Instead of the normal instinct of babbling away with sharing the facts to convince her, i decided to do things differently.

"Alyssa, you have a phone, I give you 5min. We can have a debate / discussion or engagement.  You tell me if milk is good after your research."

After 5min, she listed a few facts, according to her research and i asked her, "is milk good?"

She listed the followings.
1. Milk and other dairy products are the top sources of artery-clogging saturated fat in the American diet. Milk products also contain cholesterol. Diets high in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol increase the risk of heart disease, which remains America's top killer.
2. Some studies indicate that dairy consumption, including whole milk, is closely linked with rates of prostate cancer, ...
3. The lactose in cow's milk can be difficult for people to digest, resulting in nausea, cramps, gas, bloating, and diarrhea...
4. Cheese is made from milk.  Some cheese can be saltier than sea water.
5. Antibiotics, cholesterol etc

So she concluded herself that, dairy milk is no good.  Is she going to drink milk, she said, "No".
"Do i have to convince you, Alyssa?"
"No, i believe in facts."

I didn't have to convince her.  On the other hand, i told her that she can now confidently explain to her friends.

How about you?
There is a lot of health information on the internet on eating healthily, which is true?

Interview with 4 Excellence Lifestyle Coaches

Thanks to NI SYNERGY, I'm honoured to be the Emcee for our last MMS Training 2022.

It was an insightful sharing from 4 of our Excellence Lifestyle Coaches from all walks of life.

Our youngest Excellence Lifestyle Coach is a Malaysian studying yr 3 in Taiwan. Envision a YOLO life and yet identify her Gray Rhino at such a young age.  She could have enjoy her Uni life THEN embark on our Anti Fragile business but she choose NOW. Why?

Also another Malaysian, who "met" her Singapore mentor through her IG post. A stay home mum who enjoys freedom and desire to lessen the load of her husband because of the ever increasing expenses and living standard.

Next 2 are Singaporeans.

C is a swimming coach with constant back pain and with covid, when income was zero, she had to resort to delivery job which took a deeper toil on her health. C who is an introvert took the courage and embark on this career in the hope of stabilising her income and understanding the limit of her body as she ages. Now, she has helped her dad, sis and family to regain health and also her other students' families and fellow swim coaches on the risk of a self employed. She is holding the remote control of her health, wealth and happiness.

H, is a constant learner and has vast working experiences and family has ran 2 businesses before. She values work life balance and an environment for self growth.  Our Anti Fragile business provides her the platform for personal development, mitigating Gray Rhino in her family. She also enjoys the abundance of resources from NI SYNERGY and mentor to support her in her Anti Fragile Lifestyle.

Ytrday was a wonderful evening hearing their sharings in building their Anti Fragile Lifestyle not just for themselves but for many other families too.

I can relate to their happiness as I choose to be Healthier, Wealthier and Happier 10 years ago by embarking on this Anti Fragile business system.

Join me for MMS 2023.

What is my Gray Rhino?

What is my Gray Rhino?

I am very blessed that more than 9 years ago when the Gray Rhino metaphor was uncommonly heard, i have already identified my Gray Rhino and embark on an Excellence Lifestyle Coach career to mitigate my risks from happening not just in my family but also in my friends' communities.

Gray Rhino is a highly probable, high impact yet all too often neglected threat.  It is not random surprises, but occur after a series of warnings and visible evidence.  This is a metaphor for the threats that we can see and acknowledge yet do nothing about.
As the animal name goes, this huge animal creep in slowly into our life, so big that you can see but choose to ignore, and create a huge impact, later.

What are the common Gray Rhino?

Everyone has at least 1 Gray Rhino in their lives.  Let see how many Yes you have from below.
Inflation - cost of living and taxes
❑ Job Volatility - demanding job, poor welfare, job securities
❑ Surviving from paycheck to paycheck
❑ Rising expenses & depleting in savings
❑ Social Mobility - caught in the middle or low class
❑ Losing control of life - unable to plan your own family time, leave, holidays
Availability - inflexibility to care for elderly and young children
Work life balance - no quality time for family
❑ Health - physical and emotional unhealthy
❑ Retirement fund - real value getting smaller, uncertainty and insecurities of retirement

Like many of you, i face many of these Gray Rhino too!

How do i mitigate my risks?

Before i start this career, i was an ACCA accounting graduate turned to a stay home mum.  Sacrificing my career and income were the best things i thought i could give to my kids and i felt it was totally worth it to see them grow as kids only grow once right and we do not want to miss it!

Shortly, the discomfort of having to take money from hubby and lost of financial freedom crept in as well as the fear of my retirement fund for myself.  I feel that as a woman, i need to have my source of income to stay independent and also a sense of worthiness as a human being.

In 2013, Alyssa, my eldest daughter was admitted to hospital (see story), it was my turning point.
Is my family getting healthier in my care?  Am i happy with the result?  Am i gaining my financial independence and achieving my purpose in life by being a dedicate stay home mum?  No, No, No!!!

That was the juncture i told myself i had to break the viscous cycle!  I had enough.
I was tired from caring of sick kids days and sleepless nights, haggard, not happy and poor in my pocket and mind and soul and feeling frustrated with every single thing that was happening.

After i embark on my Excellence Lifestyle Coach career, everything transformed.
Honestly, it was really tough mentally,  physically and emotionally as i had to learn to manage my time, delegate some mother duties to others, separation anxiety with my toddlers and steep learning curve to master the business an so on.

Fast forward, behind every success, there is insurmountable efforts, hard work, resilience and rejections but all this is worth it when i look back.  I feel that i am leading a more purposeful life and enjoy what i am doing as an Excellence Lifestyle Coach.  This journey has taught me that i can take control of my family's health now, i gain financial independent and result is i am happier.  These 9 years, i learn more about myself, my strength, my weaknesses, my passion and my calling.  I have also make great friends who support me spiritually as well in my personal development to achieve a higher self.

The beginning of change is AWARENESS.
You don't have to go fast, you just have to have momentum.

Sharing with you my journey as an Excellence Lifestyle Coach.

If you have more than 5 Yes to the above known threats and is currently having no solution to them, reach out to us in how to build an Anti Fragile Life and allow me to share more with you on my journey.

Journey with me and lead an Excellence Lifestyle to be healthier, wealthier and happier.

Do you encourage experiential learning in your children?

Who prepared today's dinner?

He asked me if he can cook for us.  I agreed.
He asked what i would like to have. I said vegetarian.
He asked me for a budget. Brought him to NTUC ytrday. Today he jogged from home to parkway NTUC and took a bus home with more stuff.

With some help in the cooking from my helper, he completed the dinner for us. From planning to budgeting and from cooking and plating.

Thank you for the healthy dinner and although it got messy, I'm sure you learnt heaps today.

Thank you Zachary for the dinner.

When was the last time you let your kids try something new and adventurous?

How we survived Covid-19, part 4

10 July 2022 to 19 July 2022

7 in the family.
3 survivors.

Generally, our family took about 6-7 days to recover from Covid-19.
Everyone has different symptoms.

My Mother In Law, Lilian, 76 years old, and my 2nd son, 11 years old were the 1st 2 to diagnose with ART at home.
Next day was my eldest girl, Alyssa, 13 years old.
Following by my hubby, Edwin, 42 years old, 2 days later.

Survivors, my helper, myself and Elijah.

How did the 3 of us survived that week?
My helper, she was quite busy. preparing 3 meals, hi tea and nutritional immunology beverages for the 4 of them back to back and handwashed their clothes.  I reminded her to wash their utensils and clothings separately from us.  We are very thankful that she was willing to sacrifice her sunday off to help us at home and had to postpone her birthday celebration.  On her birthday, 12 July, I gave her an angbao and also another angbao after everything was over, including her off day salary and extra for her to celebrate with her friends.

I also offered my helper our Nutritional Immunology food during this period to keep her safe.  However, she only took some every days as she did not want me to spend so much.  What a sensible helper!

Myself and Elijah, as i mentioned in Part 3, he had an operation so he had been home.  I had to manage daily grocery, keeping him entertained, safe and his wellbeing and managing my businesses.  It had been a busy period but i really enjoyed the moment and being presence.  In the midst, i still make passionfruit drink, pomegranate drink, cheng tng, waffles etc for the family.

During this period of time, i am very thankful to be in this career.  It offers me flexibility as i was able to care for my family needs without taking leaves yet i can still manage my business and family together without affecting my income!

I did joking ask my hubby, what happen if i was the one who caught covid-19 and he was the one out?
Will he be able to take leave to handle our meals, grocery, taking care of Elijah and not to mention his work?

I believe he would not be able to manage partly because his status as an employee and usually employees are hard to get immediate and long leave and they could be expected to still be working.

From this pandemic and having my family caught Covid-19, it really proven that i have make the right choice to be in this career.

Elijah enjoys fixing Lego

How we survived Covid-19, part 3

10 July 2022 to 19 July 2022

7 in the family.
3 survivors.

Generally, our family took about 6-7 days to recover from Covid-19.
Everyone has different symptoms.

My Mother In Law, Lilian, 76 years old, and my 2nd son, 11 years old were the 1st 2 to diagnose with ART at home.
Next day was my eldest girl, Alyssa, 13 years old.
Following by my hubby, Edwin, 42 years old, 2 days later.

How 3 of us did not contact Covid-19?
My helper, myself and Elijah, 3.5 years old did not contact Covid-19.

Following is my analysis how we protected ourselves from the Covid virus.

My helper, she was having sore throat since 4 July 2022, monday, and she had been wearing mask since then as she worried she might spread to Elijah who was home for the week.  She did ART on 6 July 2022, it was Covid negative.  She shared a room with my MIL.  As she had been wearing mask, i believe she minimised the airborne exposure to Covid-19.

Myself, most of the day time that incubation week i was not at home as i had home visit with client, meeting with business partners and at office.  On the 9th and 10th July 2022, i was in Alyssa's room having our quiet time for hours.  I thank God for the protection and the constant nourishment of Healthy Breakfast i have been taking daily for years.  Have you heard of this saying, å…ŧå…ĩ千æ—Ĩ,į”Ļå…ĩäļ€æ—ķ, meaning train your armies for years even though there is no war but when there is war, your armies are always ready for the battle.

Elijah was the most concerned as he is not Covid-19 vaccinated and he just had an operation!
He had a day operation on 28 June 2022 and developed hematoma and high fever on 30 June 2022.  Therefore we decided to keep him home for at least 2 weeks and my MIL was the main care giver this while especially during the incubation period.  She had been playing and napping with him.  Elijah was the highest chance to contact Covid i must say.

Thank God for his protection.
As i look back, it is revealed to me that everything happen for a reason.  Because Elijah developed hematoma and fever and was given antibiotic and fever medicine, my hubby and i decided to up his Nutritional immunology food intake and forgo the antibiotic and medicine.  As an Excellence Lifestyle Coach, i know what is best for him to speed up his recovery.

I thank God for the series of drama for Elijah as i reflected during the 1 week Covid period.
I thank God for showing me the way to the science of Nutritional Immunology more than 9 years ago and this starts my journey as an Excellence Lifestyle Coach and so my kids have been free from medication for these 9 years and i could pay it forward to people around me to be healthier, wealthier and happier.

Holding 2 of his favourite Nutritional Immunology food

I also learned from Alyssa that her classmate commented that she recovered fast and does not look like she had Covid as that friend is still coughing after 2 weeks.

Also to share a client of mine who is running a transport company.  Many of her drivers have contacted Covid-19 and she have been close contact with them throughout these 2 over years however many were surprise that she did not get infected with Covid from her work space, social gatherings and family members who were infected, and she is safe.  She credits to the constant nourishment of her Healthy Breakfast and take extra precaution.

Important: There is a misconception that once you contacted Covid-19, you wont get it within 6 month.  My hubby colleague got it 3x within a few month.  Please rem that there are plenty of mutation along with evolution.  You could have gotten from Omicron variant previously and can get from Delta this round.  So people, do not let your guard down and do your preventive measures such as boosting your immune system, wear your mask and wash your hands!

Conclusion, nourish your immune system consistently and diligently so that it can protect, cleanse and repair for you before, during and after the battle.  Our health should not be only taken care when war is here or after the war.

We cannot control the (next) pandemic, the evolution of health threats and the people around us but we can control ourself is by taking control of our health!

How we survived Covid-19, part 2

10 July 2022 to 19 July 2022

7 in the family.
3 survivors.

Generally, our family took about 6-7 days to recover from Covid-19.
Everyone has different symptoms.

My Mother In Law, Lilian, 76 years old, and my 2nd son, 11 years old were the 1st 2 to diagnose with ART at home.
Next day was my eldest girl, Alyssa, 13 years old.
Following by my hubby, Edwin, 42 years old, 2 days later.

How it was detected?
10th July 2022, sunday night after celebrating my MIL's birthday, Zachary felt that he was running a temperature.  He took temperature himself and found he ran a fever of nearly 40 degree.  We got panicked as he told us he had sore throat the day before.  Then we got him do ART and found he was Covid positive!  So we got everyone at home to do ART and found out that my MIL had it too and her T line was very red but she had no symptoms except a bit of block nose since wed / thur!  Alyssa also informed us that her throat might be a little sore too.  To play safe, i told her to isolate in her room too although she was tested Covid negative on 10th July.

Near midnight, Zachary started to have breathing difficult and running a very high fever made him feel even worse.  Hubby decided to bring him to East Shore Hospital.  I did not follow as i worry that in the event that i contact Covid, no one will be able to take care of Elijah.  I reminded Hubby to put on 2 masks and wind down the car windows. Zachary vomitted once before leaving home.

At the hospital, Zachary had ECG test and etc and was given brufen.  As and Excellence Lifestyle Coach, i have been educating my family on the side effects and how medication works, Zachary asked his Dad if he should take.  He left the decision to him and Zachary took a doze, 1st time after more than 9 years of medication free.

After he reached home, he vomitted another time.

11th July, Alyssa was tested Covid positive but very faint line.

13 July, Hubby's throat started to sore too.  Probably he had been a hero to shift my MIL stuff to bunk in to Zachary's room and accompanied him to hospital with a tentage of i believe of similar cases.

Following is the journal i requested them to record for my sharing with everyone.

How we survived Covid-19, Part 1

10 July 2022 to 19 July 2022
7 in the family.
3 survivors.

Their 1st day

Their last day

Generally, our family took about 6-7 days to recover from Covid-19.
Everyone has different symptoms.  I will elaborate more in my next part of the topic.

Logistic
We have planned for this day thus we have bought extra bunk bed to put in Alyssa's room when we did restructuring last year to give her her own room.
Zachary has a double deck bunk bed in his room and Alyssa has a triple deck bunk bed in her room.
From 10th July, we had isolated Lilian and Zachary in Zachary's room.
We had also requested Alyssa to minimise movement at home by staying in her room from 10th.
Edwin contacted Covid-19 3 days later could be due to him been hero to settle the room logistic and sending Zachary to hospital for a check (read next part) while i minimise contact with these patients as i have a 3.5 years old who needs me.  After he was diagnosed with Covid-19, he bunked in to Alyssa's room.
They have a toilet outside their rooms.  So the survivors did not use any of them.  Doors were kept closed to minimise spreading of virus.

My helper rest in her room.
Myself and Elijah, 3.5 years old in the master bedroom.

Food and nourishment
I saw that many families manage Covid-19 symptoms with medication such as paracetamol, lozenge, flu and cough medicine, Lian Hua medicine etc.

In our family, healthier food were served 4x a day including a tea break and 2 servings of high antioxidants fruits and several bottles of concentrated Nutritional Immunology Food for the patients.  As an Excellence Lifestyle Coach, i know who is the best doctor, ie our immune system, the best way to speed up recovery is by nourishing our body to self healing.

Fever, cough and flu are our body ways of fighting hard to maintain homeostasis.  Our body is put into an inflammation state when a sudden potent virus attack the body. Indiscriminately consume medication to allow body to fight itself can make it difficult for the immune system to fight the infection and on the other hand making the invaders stronger.

These are some of the food we prepared for the patients.

Tips
1. Early preparation on rooms and logistic in the event of Covid-19
2. Both patients and survivors, we wore mask everyday even when we slept, except Elijah, i took off his mask when he slept.
3. Use disposal food containers and utensil.  Just dump after each use or after the period.
4. Consume high antioxidant, phytochemicals and polysaccharides wholesome plant, fruits and vegetables.  Avoid inflammatory food that slows down recovery.
5. Sleep more
6. Stay hydrated with beverage that give nutrients to boost your immunity
7. Do some light exercise.
8.  Keep yourself entertained and enjoy the moment
