Last saturday I attended a session of DZG for parents at my girl's primary school.
It is a good learning experience. We are our children mirror and they model us and we have to motivate them to have good characters. Many a time we tell our kids to be eg filial but do we do?
Give you a scenario. At a dinner with 3 generations, when foods is serve, who will you serve first? Children learn through modeling. I know many people including me fall into serving our kids first. We can't teach filial by telling them what needed to be fine to express filial. However we can model by servings our parents first.
I bought this book a few days ago. My kids and i are able to recite 2 segments out of the 7. I tried making into flash cards as well. From the workshop, I realize that some of the character traits that my children have, can be guided by this DZG book.
It has 2 short verses supported with English words. Then there's a scenario story follows by another story. I try and go through with them every night and quote our daily life experience to stimulate them to think.
I have also bought this DVD from popular. They used to watch a bit here and there a few years back too and it is very interesting with singing and explaining. They have an app too but I find the DVD is more interactive and stimulating.
Parenting is a fun learning journey. I believe that we need to first learn and apply on ourselves before we expect my children to be.
Jia You!
Thank you and best regards
